A BILL
TO AMEND CHAPTER 1, TITLE 10 OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS, 1976, RELATING TO PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND PROPERTY, SO AS TO REMOVE THE CONFEDERATE FLAG FROM ATOP THE STATE HOUSE AND TO RELOCATE THE FLAG TO A FLAGPOLE ON THE SITE OF THE CONFEDERATE RELIC ROOM AND MUSEUM.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Title 10 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 10-1-165. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Confederate Flag shall be removed from atop the State House and shall be placed atop a flagpole to be located near the marker for the Confederate Relic Room and Museum on the grounds of the War Memorial Building erected at the corner of Sumter and Pendleton Streets in the City of Columbia. At such time as the Confederate Relic Room and Museum is relocated to the Columbia Mills Building, the Confederate Flag shall be relocated from the grounds of the War Memorial to an appropriate location on the site of the Columbia Mills Building."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
