AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION
61-9-61 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE TRANSFER OF BEER AND WINE TO PERSONS UNDER THE AGE
OF EIGHTEEN AND TO PROVIDE A PENALTY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Prohibit the transfer of beer and wine to minors
Section 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 61-9-61. It shall be unlawful for any person, except a spouse over the age of eighteen years or
a parent or guardian, to transfer or give to any person under the age of eighteen years any beer or wine at any
place within the State. The provisions of this section shall not apply to wine furnished in connection with a bona
fide religious service. Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined not more than two hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than
thirty days."
Time effective
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor. |
