A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO THANK SHERIFF KEVIN BEARY OF ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR HIS DONATION OF BULLET-PROOF VESTS TO THE RICHLAND COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT.

Whereas, crime in Richland County and the State of South Carolina is a problem of increasing importance to our society; and

Whereas, the daily struggle and fight against crime in Richland County is one that jeopardizes the lives of the brave men and women who tirelessly serve as Deputies of the Richland County Sheriff's Department; and

Whereas, to ensure that these brave officers are afforded the best possible protection against harm in the line of duty, the community, through the coordination of Michael Letts, has sought to raise money to obtain bullet-proof vests for the Richland County Sheriff's Department; and

Whereas, through this effort, national interest in Richland County's efforts toward obtaining adequate protective bullet-proof vests has been generated; and

Whereas, Sheriff Kevin Beary, out his compassion and empathy for the struggle of law enforcement, has been good enough to donate one hundred Safariland Bullet-Proof Vests for Richland County Deputies, and

Whereas, the Senate appreciates Sheriff Beary's willingness to work with the State of South Carolina toward our shared goal of a safer society and fewer law enforcement casualties. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate thanks Sheriff Kevin Beary of Orange County, Florida for his donation of one hundred bullet-proof vests to the Richland County Sheriff's Deputies and appreciate his willingness to respond to the call for assistance.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Sheriff Kevin Beary of Orange County, Florida.
