A Senate Resolution to commend Corporal Henry Clayton for exceptional service
and bravery while in the performance of his duties during a main disturbance
at the Broad River Correctional Institution on April 17, 1995.
05/30/95 Senate Introduced and adopted SJ-46
A SENATE
RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND CORPORAL HENRY CLAYTON FOR
EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE AND BRAVERY WHILE IN THE
PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES DURING A MAIN
DISTURBANCE AT THE BROAD RIVER CORRECTIONAL
INSTITUTION ON APRIL 17, 1995.
Whereas, during a disturbance at the Broad River Correctional
Institution on April 17, 1995, Corporal Henry Clayton, upon
observing that a fellow officer had been knocked down by armed
inmates who poured boiling water over the officer, immediately and
without reward for his personal safety, began diverting the attention
of the attacking inmates so that the downed officer could reach
safety. In the process, Corporal Clayton himself was stabbed by an
inmate. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate commend Corporal Henry Clayton
for exceptional service and bravery while in the performance of his
duties during a main disturbance at the Broad River Correctional
Institution on April 17, 1995.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Corporal Henry Clayton.
