S. 633

A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE L. W. "HAP" GRIFFIN, VICE PRESIDENT OF SOUTH CAROLINA EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION TRANSMISSION DEPARTMENT, JOHN CROCKETT, MANAGER OF SOUTH CAROLINA EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION TRANSMISSION DEPARTMENT, AND THOSE WHO ASSISTED THEM IN THEIR EFFORTS TO SAVE THE CITIZENS OF SOUTH CAROLINA MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ON BEING THE FIRST RECIPIENTS OF THE BLUE GRANITE RECOGNITION AND COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND COMMITMENT TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Mr. L. W. "Hap" Griffin and Mr. John Crockett saved more than two hundred seventy thousand dollars by traveling as far as Kentucky to secure broadcast transmitter parts; and

Whereas, Mr. Griffin and Mr. Crockett spent many long hours communicating with stations across the Southeast negotiating the purchase of the parts and then finding time in their schedules to pick the parts up and installing them at the station; and

Whereas, other South Carolina Educational Television employees traveled with Mr. Griffin and Mr. Crockett and helped to load these parts including Mr. Mike Brooks, Mr. Ed Elzer, Mr. Mike Gill, Mr. Grady Poston, and Mr. Bob Rose. These state employees went beyond the call of duty in their efforts to serve the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the first recipients of the Blue Granite Recognition are Mr. Griffin and Mr. Crockett. The Blue Granite Recognition is given to state employees who have demonstrated insight, initiative, and persistence which yielded extraordinary results for South Carolina and her citizens; and

Whereas, the purpose of the Blue Granite Recognition Program is to inform the public how valuable state employees are to the citizens of South Carolina and raise awareness of the very significant things state employees do on a daily basis; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate are proud to honor Mr. L. W. "Hap" Griffin and Mr. John Crockett as the first recipients of the Blue Granite Recognition for their outstanding efforts to save the citizens of South Carolina more than two hundred seventy thousand dollars. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. L. W. "Hap" Griffin, Vice President of South Carolina Educational Television Transmission Department, Mr. John Crockett, Manager of South Carolina Educational Television Transmission Department, and those who assisted them in their efforts to save citizens of South Carolina more than two hundred seventy thousand dollars on being the first recipients of the Blue Granite Recognition and commend them for their hard work and commitment to the State of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. L. W. "Hap" Griffin and Mr. John Crockett of South Carolina Educational Television.
