S. 1202

A SENATE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING MITCHEL COOPER OF PELION IN LEXINGTON COUNTY ON HIS SELECTION AS THE GOLD MEDAL OF ACHIEVEMENT RECIPIENT FOR 2004 IN RECOGNITION OF HIS CHURCH, SCHOOL, AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AND HIS EXCELLENCE IN ACHIEVEMENT AS A MEMBER OF THE PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH ROYAL RANGERS PROGRAM.

Whereas, Mitchel Cooper of Pelion in Lexington County has been a member of the Royal Rangers Program at Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church since the age of four; and

Whereas, the high school senior has steadily worked his way through the ranks of this international ministry of the Pentecostal Holiness Church, a program designed to teach boys about Christ through the "merits of learning"; and

Whereas, Mitchel Cooper has so successfully achieved the objectives of the program that he has earned Ebenezer Royal Ranger honors five times, South Carolina Conference Royal Ranger of the Year three times, and was second runner-up to the top international Royal Ranger in 2002 before being recognized as the Gold Medal Achievement recipient for 2004; and

Whereas, the rising Clemson University freshman will represent the State of South Carolina Royal Ranger Program in July as he competes for the national title; and

Whereas, the son of Danny and Carol Cooper, Mitchel Cooper exemplifies the best and brightest of South Carolina's young men--exercising leadership in his church, his school, and his community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate do hereby congratulate Mitchel Cooper of Pelion in Lexington County on his selection as the Gold Medal of Achievement recipient for 2004 in recognition of his church, school, and community leadership and his excellence in achievement as a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church Royal Rangers Program.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mitchel Cooper.
