A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE DORMAN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM OF SPARTANBURG FOR WINNING THE 2004 CLASS AAAA CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND DEDICATION TO BECOME A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM.

Whereas, the members of the Dorman High School Girls Basketball team and Coach Joy Couch have demonstrated their outstanding cooperation, teamwork, leadership, and physical abilities for the second year in a row to win the 2004 Class AAAA State Championship; and

Whereas, with excellent coaching and dedicated players, the Lady Cavaliers of Spartanburg beat out almost every opponent to have the chance to become State Champions and finished their season with twenty-nine wins and only one loss; and

Whereas, this dream team has enjoyed an undefeated record in its region for two straight years and has not lost to a South Carolina team over the past two years; and

Whereas, the members of the Dorman High School Girls Basketball Team averaged seventy points a game and ended the season ranked twenty-first in the nation; and

Whereas, the climax of the season was on March 5, 2004, when the Lady Cavaliers retained their Class AAAA Championship Title; and

Whereas, the members of this exceptional team are Jasmine Collier, Jade Hughes, Kelly White, Brittany Fowler, Tamika Pollard, Teeanna Smith, Lia Procter, Skylr Druhet, Jessica Houston, Nikki Wood, Mary Childs, Meredith Karabinos, Ericka Hammett, Bailey Dewart, Jessica Payden, and Micaela Jackson; and

Whereas, with the support of their family, friends, and community, these young women have become champions both on and off the basketball court. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the Dorman High School Girls Basketball Cavaliers of Spartanburg for winning the 2004 Class AAAA Championship and commend them for their hard work, competitive spirit, and dedication to become a championship team.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Dorman High School Girls Basketball Team of Spartanburg.
