 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE FORT MILL HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND
 UPON WINNING THE 1996-97 SOUTH CAROLINA AAA STATE MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIP.

CONGRATULATING THE FORT MILL HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND UPON WINNING THE 1996-97 SOUTH CAROLINA AAA STATE MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina are very pleased to learn that the Fort Mill High School Yellow Jackets Marching Band has once again won the South Carolina AAA State Marching Band Championship; and

Whereas, the Fort Mill High Marching Band is truly one of the best marching bands to be found anywhere and also was named the 1995-96 State Champions; and

Whereas, the Fort Mill Marching Band has brought home the state championship for fifteen out of twenty years; and

Whereas, this award-winning band is under the excellent direction of Mr. Martin Dickey, who is assisted in an outstanding fashion by Kirk Godbey, Randy Grantham, and Jason Ford; and

Whereas, the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets Marching Band has won numerous other awards and honors and is clearly deserving of the recognition bestowed upon them; and

Whereas, the school spirit and commitment of the band members, Director Dickey and his assistants, parents, band boosters, school administration, and York County School District 4 are certainly indicative of the hard work, support, and encouragement necessary to accomplish this highest level of consistent achievement; and

Whereas, this is a highly-deserving group of young musicians who are outstanding representatives of York County and the Palmetto State; and

Whereas, all the citizens of South Carolina are extremely proud of the Fort Mill High School Marching Band's accomplishments and the members of the General Assembly are pleased to be able to recognize and congratulate them in this instance. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Fort Mill High School Marching Band upon winning the 1996-97 South Carolina AAA State Marching Band Championship.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Martin Dickey, Director of the Fort Mill High School Marching Band, and to Mr. James Boyette, Principal of Fort Mill High School.
