 IN HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE COACH PHIL SAVITZ, HEAD COACH OF IRMO HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' SOCCER TEAM, FOR HIS LONG TENURE AND NOTEWORTHY ACHIEVEMENTS IN HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER.

Whereas, Phil Savitz has been Head Coach of the Irmo High School Boys' Soccer Team for seventeen years; and

Whereas, he and his Yellow JacketsNext have attained an overall record of 300 wins, with only twenty-five losses and five ties; and

Whereas, he has led the team to eight state titles and to eleven championship games; and

Whereas, the Yellow PreviousJackets are coming off a twenty-win season last year and have great expectations for this season; and

Whereas, in addition to producing numerous all-star players, Coach Savitz has coached nine players to the honor of State Player of the Year; and

Whereas, his teams have finished the season ranked in the top ten nationally by USA TODAY three different times; and

Whereas, Coach Savitz has been recognized as NCAA Southern Region Coach of the Year; South Carolina Coaches' Association Coach of the Year twice; Greenville News Coach of the Year twice; Sports Report Coach of the Decade; NCAA Region III National Coach of the Year; Sports Report Lifetime Award winner; and Sports Report AAAA Coach of the year; and

Whereas, he has achieved all his successes while representing Irmo High School with dignity and honor, earning the respect of the community, administration, parents, and students; and

Whereas, the tradition he has created in seventeen years as Head Coach is unsurpassed by another high school soccer program in the Southeast. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize Coach Phil Savitz, Head Coach of the Irmo High School Boys' Soccer Team, for his seventeen outstanding years and numerous achievements in creating a stellar soccer program.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Savitz.
