EXTENDING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE WILSON HALL "BARONS" VARSITY BASEBALL TEAM FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND ON CAPTURING THE 2000 SCISAA 3A STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the Wilson Hall "Barons" Varsity Baseball Team of Sumter County won the 2000 SCISAA 3A State Baseball Championship; and

Whereas, this feat was accomplished when the "Barons" defeated the Laurence Manning "Swampcats" by a score of 12-2; and

Whereas, the "Barons" championship season would not have been possible without the leadership abilities of Head Coach Dr. Tommy Jones and his assistants, Dr. Phil Finley and W. Bernard Jones; and

Whereas, special recognition should be given to Headmaster Frederick B. Moulton, Wilson Hall Board of Trustees members Pete Wright, Chairman, Susie Reynolds, Caroline DuRant, Porter Thompkins, Clarke Bynum, Ann Calloway, Linda Crabbe, Ellen Hill, Anthony Hoefer, George C. James, Jr., Joe McElveen, and Burke Watson, Jr., and the faculty, staff, students, parents, and community for supporting the team throughout its championship season; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations to recognize the Wilson Hall "Barons" Varsity Baseball Team for completing a remarkable season. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to the Wilson Hall "Barons" Varsity baseball team for an outstanding season and on capturing the 2000 SCISAA 3A State Baseball Championship.
