 A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE THE TEACHERS, PARENTS, STUDENTS,
 AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS OF WOODRUFF HIGH SCHOOL IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY ON THE
 SCHOOL'S IMPRESSIVE RECOGNITION AS A NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL AWARD WINNER.

TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE THE TEACHERS, PARENTS, STUDENTS, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS OF WOODRUFF HIGH SCHOOL IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY ON THE SCHOOL'S IMPRESSIVE RECOGNITION AS A NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL AWARD WINNER.

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to honor Woodruff High School of Spartanburg School District Four for its being named a National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education; and

Whereas, the Blue Ribbon program gives national recognition to schools that excel in meeting local, state, and national goals in education; and

Whereas, the program recognizes excellence in the school environment, including leadership, quality teaching, parent and community support, and organizational vitality; and

Whereas, under the leadership of Principal Karen Neal, the faculty and staff have consistently demonstrated their commitment to excellence and their love of the students and families of Woodruff High School; and

Whereas, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies in assessing multiple learning styles, the educational program of Woodruff High School is one that assures success, as students perform in the top ten percent of the state, and the school leads South Carolina in the enrollment and pass rate in Advanced Placement courses; and

Whereas, Woodruff High School is no stranger to recognition for its accomplishments. It has been rated Excellent in academic performance every year on its School Report Card and has received the Palmetto Gold award for the past four years; and

Whereas, at a time when South Carolina public education is highly scrutinized on both a state and national level, the House of Representatives takes great pride in lauding Woodruff High School as a model public school and encourages those involved with the education of its young people to continue in their undoubted dedication and commitment to securing South Carolina's future. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and congratulate the teachers, parents, students, and school officials of Woodruff High School in Spartanburg County on the school's impressive recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School Award winner.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Karen Neal.
