AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION
1-1-665, SO AS TO DESIGNATE THE SHAG AS THE OFFICIAL DANCE OF THE STATE.
Whereas, all South Carolinians are proud that the shag, one of the great
developments in terpsichorean culture, is native to this State, and
Whereas, it is appropriate that the contributions that the shag makes to the
cultural life of South Carolina, the United States, and the world should be
recognized above all in the birthplace of the shag. Now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Shag designated official state dance
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 1-1-665. The shag is the official dance of the State."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor. |
