A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE
CONGREGATION OF THE CENTENNIAL ASSOCIATE
REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF COLUMBIA,
SOUTH CAROLINA, ON THE OCCASION OF ITS ONE
HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF TEACHING GOD'S WORD.
Whereas, Centennial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARP)
of Columbia, South Carolina, will celebrate its one hundredth
anniversary at an inaugural service on the Sabbath of February 2,
1997, at 11 A.M.; and
Whereas, the church was organized in Columbia on February 1,
1887; and
Whereas, the elders and pastors of Centennial ARP Church have
always been in the forefront of the leadership of their denomination;
and
Whereas, the members, as well as the leaders of the church, have
often been stalwarts in the effort to maintain the doctrinal purity of
the Presbyterian denominations and the Christian faith; and
Whereas, the Centennial ARP Church has been the mother church to
three separate congregations in the Columbia area; and
Whereas, the Centennial ARP Church's congregation is proud of the
four young men who have gone into the ministry and blessed by the
three young ladies who have been called into full-time missionary
work; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly of the State of South
Carolina are greatly pleased to have the opportunity to recognize this
outstanding congregation on this auspicious occasion. Now,
therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, recognizes and congratulates the congregation of the
Centennial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Columbia,
South Carolina, for the inspiration of its past and the hope of an even
brighter future on the one hundredth anniversary of its founding.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
the Session and Congregation of Centennial Associate Reformed
Presbyterian Church.
