Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 33, Title 46 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 46-33-85.    A phytosanitary certificate or a permit may be issued by an inspector for intrastate and interstate Previousshipments of conifer and hardwood seedlings to verify that they are apparently free of pests and diseases. To ensure pest and disease-free plant material, the preferred method of treatment is fumigation using methyl bromide in seedling plant beds prior to seeding."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
