A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE MARION AND JO STEPHENSON UPON THE OCCASION OF THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY, AND TO WISH THEM MANY MORE YEARS OF CONTINUED HAPPINESS.

Whereas, Marion and Jo Andrea "Jo" Stephenson are residents of Chapin, South Carolina and celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on March 6, 2015; and

Whereas, Marion and Jo Stephenson grew up in Chester, where their families worked in the textile and farming industries. They come from a large and distinguished family in the Chester area. Members of their family served in public office and own the Stephenson Rodeo, which serves as the venue each year for the Stephenson Family Reunion, which is now approaching its seventy-fifth anniversary; and

Whereas, Marion Stephenson served his country in the United States Army for five years at Fort Jackson, Fort Benning, Fort Knox, and Germany, during 1959-1964. After his return, he married Jo Stephenson on March 6, 1965. After marrying, the couple moved to the Columbia area and eventually settled in Chapin. They were blessed with two children, Peggy S. Aun and Wylie Stephenson; and

Whereas, Jo Stephenson attended the University of South Carolina and had a long and distinguished career with Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital, which led her to her current position with McKesson; and

Whereas, Marion Stephenson retired from the Crane industry after spending decades working as a Crane technician and estimator with various Crane companies; and

Whereas, Peggy S. Aun, a former employee of the State Senate and of Lieutenant Governor Mike Daniel, married local attorney and former lobbyist Andrew A. Aun, and had two children, AJ Aun and Ana Aun; and

Whereas, Wylie Stephenson, a local contractor with Core Construction, married Stephany Stephenson, and had three children, Trey, Nick, and Maddie Stephenson; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the Senate express their congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Marion and Jo Stephenson upon the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary and wish them many more years of continued happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. and Mrs. Marion and Jo Stephenson.
