 OF DORCHESTER COUNTY FOR HIS DEVOTION TO HIS FAITH, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY AND
 TO WISH HIM THE BEST IN ALL FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR REVEREND DR. SAMUEL B. MARSHALL OF DORCHESTER COUNTY FOR HIS DEVOTION TO HIS FAITH, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY AND TO WISH HIM THE BEST IN ALL FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, a St. George native, Reverend Dr. Samuel Marshall is the son of the late Reverend Jerry and Cinderella Davis Marshall; and

Whereas, coming into his faith at the age of ten, he became a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and later became pastor of that congregation; and

Whereas, attending Dorchester County public schools, he graduated from Voorhees High School and then matriculated at South Carolina State University. In 1984, he was bestowed an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Morris College; and

Whereas, leading a varied professional life, Reverend Marshall served as an educator and principal of both Central High School and Ruffin High School, and as County Agricultural Agent in Newberry County. He also is the owner and manager of Shuler-Marshall Funeral Home; and

Whereas, following his tremendous faith, Reverend Marshall led congregations of worshippers at both Second Providence Baptist Church and Good Hope Baptist Church. He also has served as moderator of Lovely Hill Association, and on the Board of Directors' Women's Auxiliary Convention and Sunday School Convention; and

Whereas, Reverend Marshall remains committed to education as he serves on the Board of Trustees of Morris College and as a member of the South Carolina Educational and Missionary Convention; and

Whereas, active within his community, he has worked as President of the Upper Dorchester County Branch of the NAACP, has served on the Board of Trustees of Orangeburg County District Three, and is a former Chairman of the Francis Folk Recreation Park Committee, among numerous other involvements; and

Whereas, a loving and devoted father, Reverend Marshall enjoys spending time with his daughter, Samuetta Valencia Marshall, who is Orangeburg County Coroner; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is proud to recognize Reverend Samuel B. Marshall for the many ways in which he has dedicated his life to bettering his community and South Carolina as a whole. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Reverend Dr. Samuel B. Marshall of Dorchester County for his devotion to his faith, career, and community, and wish him the best in all future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Reverend Dr. Samuel B. Marshall.
