A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

HONORING GEORGE DUCWORTH UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE WIL LOU GRAY OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL BOARD OF TRUSTEES, THANKING HIM FOR DECADES OF CIVIL SERVICE, AND WISHING HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND GOOD FORTUNE IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, George Ducworth is a native of Anderson, South Carolina, and a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School, 1967, and Clemson University, 1971; and

Whereas, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1975; and

Whereas, he gained political experience working as an aid to Senator Strom Thurmond from 1973-1977; and

Whereas, in 2001, after two decades of admirable service, he retired as the Solicitor of the 10th Judicial Circuit; and

Whereas, George also spends his time as host of "The Morning Show" on Talk 103.1, and director of the Criminal Justice Department at Anderson University; and

Whereas, in 2001, he won the prestigious Wil Lou Gray Award, given to a person who demonstrates outstanding leadership in the areas of administration, educational programs, or service; and

Whereas, he has dutifully served on the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School Board of Trustees since 2003, until the expiration of his term in June of 2007; and

Whereas, George married the former Dale Haynie in 1979, and together, they have four sons, Austin, Chase, Griff, and Hunter. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, honor George Ducworth upon the occasion of his retirement from the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School Board of Trustees, thank him for his decades of civil service, and wish him much success and good fortune in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to George Ducworth.
