 ON WINNING THE 2020 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

TO CELEBRATE THE INDIAN LAND HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM ON COMPLETING A STELLAR SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM MEMBERS AND COACHES ON WINNING THE 2020 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, with the goal of another well-earned championship firmly in mind, the Indian Land High School (ILHS) wrestling team pinned down the 2020 Class AAA State Championship title on Saturday, February 15, 2020, crushing Gilbert 56-9 at Columbia's Dreher High School; and

Whereas, with this win, the Warriors continued their wrestling dominance, made it two state titles in a row, and added a new championship trophy to their collection. Further, on this landmark occasion, the Warriors achieved the first back-to-back state crowns for an ILHS boys sports team in the school's ninety-three-year history; and

Whereas, the 2020 win was even more decisive than last year's 44-12 title victory over Gilbert, which earned Indian Land its first-ever state mat crown; and

Whereas, the twin titles put Indian Land among the state's premier wrestling programs; and

Whereas, on point from the opening whistle, poised and with a purpose, the Warriors zipped to a 21-0 lead on the way to a 47-point win, capturing twelve of the fourteen weight classes and finishing the season with a 30-2 record; and

Whereas, with the able assistance of a phenomenal coaching staff, Indian Land's Head Coach Leon Boulware led his athletes to the top of the mountain at the championship competition and found the view worth the climb; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to salute the young athletes of the Indian Land High School wrestling team and have confidence that the Warriors will continue to excel in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, celebrate the Indian Land High School wrestling team on completing a stellar season and congratulate the team members and coaches on winning the 2020 Class AAA State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal David Shamble and Head Coach Leon Boulware of Indian Land High School.
