AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 15-78-60, AS AMENDED CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO CIRCUMSTANCES UNDER WHICH A GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY IS NOT LIABLE WHEN A LOSS RESULTS, SO AS TO INCLUDE NOTIFICATION OF ANY PERSON WITH WHOM A PUBLIC STUDENT RESIDES OF THE STUDENT'S SUSPECTED USE OF ALCOHOL, CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, OR DRUGS IF MADE IN GOOD FAITH.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 15-78-60 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"(28) Notification of any public school student's parent, legal guardian, or other person with whom a public school student resides of the student's suspected use of alcohol, controlled substance, prescription or nonprescription drugs by any public school administrator, principal, counselor, or teacher if such notification is made in good faith."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
