A JOINT RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR AN ADVISORY REFERENDUM TO BE HELD AT THE TIME OF THE 1988 GENERAL ELECTION FOR THE REGISTERED ELECTORS OF HORRY COUNTY ON THE QUESTION CONCERNING WHETHER OR NOT THE ELECTORS WISH TO CHANGE THE METHOD OF ELECTION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR HORRY COUNTY FROM ELECTION AT LARGE TO ELECTION FROM DEFINED SINGLE-MEMBER DISTRICTS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Advisory referendum - Horry County

SECTION 1. The Horry County Election Commission shall conduct an advisory referendum at the time of the 1988 general election to determine whether or not the registered electors of Horry County wish to change the method of election of the members of the County Board of Education for Horry County form election at large to election from single-member districts. Ballots must be provided at the voting precincts in the county with the following question printed or written on the ballot:

"For advisory purposes only, do you favor changing the method of election of the members of the County Board of Education for Horry County from election at large from the county to election from defined single-member districts?

Yes / /

No / /

Those voting in favor of the question shall deposit a ballot with a check or cross mark in the square after the word 'Yes', and those voting against the question shall deposit a ballot with a check or cross mark in the square after the word 'No'."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
