AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 50-11-1020, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE PROHIBITION AGAINST THE HUNTING OF RACCOONS AND OPOSSUMS WITH ANY FIREARM, SAW, AX, ARTIFICIAL CALLING DEVICE, OR TREE-CLIMBING DEVICE DURING ANY PERIOD WHEN THEY MAY BY HUNTED WITHOUT FIREARMS, SO AS TO PERMIT THE USE OF MOUTH-OPERATED CALLING DEVICES DURING FIELD TRIALS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Hunting raccoons and opossums without firearms - certain devices prohibited; calling devices permitted during field trials

SECTION 1. Section 50-11-1020 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 50-11-1020. During any period in which raccoons and opossums are allowed to be hunted without firearms, it is unlawful to hunt such game when carrying on one's person or in one's vehicle any firearm, saw, ax, artificial calling device, or tree-climbing device. Mouth-operated calling devices may be used in field trials as provided by the department in Section 50-11-70."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
