AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 40-15-140, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO EXAMINATION OF APPLICANTS FOR DENTAL, DENTAL HYGIENIST, AND DENTAL TECHNICIAN LICENSES, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT DENTAL EXAMINATIONS MUST BE GIVEN ANNUALLY AND DENTAL HYGIENIST AND DENTAL TECHNICIAN EXAMINATIONS MUST BE GIVEN SEMIANNUALLY AND TO REAUTHORIZE THE EXISTENCE OF THE STATE BOARD OF DENTISTRY FOR ONE YEAR.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Examination of applicants

SECTION 1. Section 40-15-140 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding at the end:

"Dental examinations must be given annually by the board and dental hygienist and dental technician examinations must be given semiannually by the board."

Board reauthorized

SECTION 2. In accordance with Section 7 of Act 608 of 1978, the existence of the State Board of Dentistry is reauthorized for one year.

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
