AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE PROCEDURE TO IMPOSE AD VALOREM TAXES FOR OPERATIONAL PURPOSES FOR ABBEVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 60, SOUTH CAROLINA.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Finding

SECTION 1. The board of trustees of Abbeville County School District No. 60, South Carolina, finds that it is in the best interest of the residents and taxpayers of the district that a procedure by which the operational levy for the district must be established.

Operating budget

SECTION 2. The board shall formulate an operating budget for each fiscal year for the district. The budget must be submitted to the county council for Abbeville County at the same time the county approves its respective operating budget.

Tax levy

SECTION 3. The board may levy annually upon all taxable property in the district a tax in order to meet the cost of operating and maintaining the district during each fiscal year. If the budget adopted by the board for a fiscal year requires the imposition of an operational millage in excess of that imposed for the preceding fiscal year, the millage must be approved by the county council for Abbeville County.

Tax levy further

SECTION 4. The auditor of Abbeville County shall levy millage necessary to raise sufficient ad valorem taxes to defray the costs of the district's budget , subject to the provisions of Section 3 of this act.

Powers additional

SECTION 5. The powers and authorizations conferred upon the board by this act are in addition to all other powers and authorizations previously vested in the board.

Time effective

SECTION 6. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
