AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 40-51-65, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO LICENSING AND EXAMINATION OF APPLICANTS TO PRACTICE PODIATRY, SO AS TO DELETE THE PROVISIONS ON THE MINIMUM REQUIRED NUMBER OF SCHOLASTIC YEARS AND ON TEMPORARY LICENSES AND TO PROVIDE FOR A RECOGNIZED COLLEGE OF PODIATRIC MEDICINE TO BE ACCREDITED BY THE COUNCIL ON PODIATRIC MEDICAL EDUCATION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

License requirements

SECTION 1. Section 40-51-65 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 40-51-65. It is unlawful for any person to practice podiatric medicine in this State without obtaining first a license from the board.

The board shall conduct an examination of any applicant who submits satisfactory evidence that he has:

(a) received four years of high school training;

(b) completed at least three years of pre-podiatry training at a recognized college;

(c) received a diploma or certificate of graduation from a recognized college of podiatric medicine which has been accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
