The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

O God of grace and goodness, we bow in these moments of prayer in acknowledgement of our dependence upon You and of our desire for Your guidance. Plant our feet on the solid ground of Your Word that we may find deliverance from thoughts that weaken us, from actions that worry us, and from a selfishness that closes our eyes to the needs of others. Kindle in our hearts a desire to eschew what is wrong, and enthusiasm for good will. Renew our strength, reinvigorate our minds, send us forth to our waiting tasks to do all we can for God and for the people around us. Make us great enough to face these hours with courage, with faith enough to face these hours with confidence, eager to do our best at every opportunity.

In the Name of Jesus, our Lord, we pray. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.

ADJOURNMENT

At 10:10 A.M. the House in accordance with the ruling of the SPEAKER adjourned to meet at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, February 2.
