The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

O God our Father, the Creator of the world and the Sustainer of life, as we stand in Your holy presence hushed in silence, we seek Your guidance, eager to do Your will and to serve Your people aright. We are grateful for our heritage the good gifts from the past - and we pray that we may continue these good works in the present, always striving for higher ground. Help us to do our duties well, to carry our responsibilities unfalteringly, and to make our decisions with sincerity of mind and genuineness of heart. Remove from us all pretense, deceit, hypocrisy. So may we be just and understanding in all our ways and straightforward and charitable through all our days.

In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
