The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

O God of all-embracing knowledge and unlimited wisdom, help us in the stewardship of our offices to separate the eternal from the temporal, the permanent from the tentative, the enduring from the perishable. Spare us from doing hastily and in the wrong way when study and patience and hard work may accomplish the right thing in the right way. Show us how to move when the way is clear, to take steps when movement is wise, and to seek Your light when the path is dim. To this end, we beseech You to guide us that we might legislate wisely for the well-being of this great State and of those who live in it.

In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
