TO EXPRESS THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO MRS. EVELYN S. OSWALD FOR HER THIRTY-THREE AND ONE-HALF YEARS OF DEDICATED AND INVALUABLE SERVICE AS A FAITHFUL EMPLOYEE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AND TO WISH HER WELL IN HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the Senate have learned that Mrs. Evelyn S. Oswald recently retired from the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation; and
Whereas, Mrs. Oswald began her service with the Highway Department on February 3, 1958, as a file clerk in the driver's license records section; and
Whereas, she served the department for thirty-three and one-half years and served under seven executive directors; and
Whereas, Mrs. Oswald served as the administrative assistant to six of the previous executive directors; and
Whereas, in 1971 she was assigned to the office of the Chief Highway Commissioner; and
Whereas, she willingly accepted the many challenges of her position and grew personally as a dedicated employee of the department; and
Whereas, Mrs. Oswald's knowledge and understanding of the department and its operation allowed her to work effectively with legislators, commissioners, and the public; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate want her to know that she has done an outstanding job and that they appreciate her many years of loyal and devoted service to the department; and
Whereas, the Senate, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize Mrs. Oswald upon her retirement from the Highway Department. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate,
That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express appreciation to Mrs. Evelyn S. Oswald for her years of distinguished service at the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation upon her retirement and wish her well in her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Evelyn S. Oswald.
