TO AMEND SECTION 56-1-30, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PERSONS EXEMPT FROM LICENSING REQUIREMENTS, SO AS TO PROVIDE A NEW RESIDENT OF THIS STATE WHO IS AT LEAST SIXTEEN YEARS OF AGE AND HAS A VALID OPERATOR OR CHAUFFEUR'S LICENSE MAY OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE IN THIS STATE FOR NOT MORE THAN NINETY DAYS FROM THE DATE HE ESTABLISHES RESIDENCY IN THIS STATE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 56-1-30 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"(7) A resident of this State, who is at least sixteen years of age and has in his immediate possession a valid operator's or chauffeur's license issued to him by the most recent former home State, may operate a motor vehicle in this State for not more than ninety days from the date he establishes a South Carolina residence. However, the license must be endorsed for the classification of the vehicle being operated as required by Section 56-1-130."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
