A SENATE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING COACH MICHAEL BAYNE OF DENMARK-OLAR HIGH SCHOOL FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS A HEAD COACH IN MANY SPORTS.

Whereas, the Denmark-Olar High School Lady Vikings varsity basketball team and the school's Lady Vikings track team have won five consecutive region championships under the direction of Coach Michael Bayne; and

Whereas, the Lady Vikings basketball team had the number one defense in the State in 1989-90 and the number two defense in South Carolina in 1991-92 and was ranked second for most of the 1991-92 season in Class 1-A; and

Whereas, the Lady Vikings track team overwhelmed its region opponents in 1990 and 1991 by outscoring runner-up Pelion in 1990 by thirty points and Williston-Elko by more than fifty points in 1991; and

Whereas, Coach Bayne has won "Coach of the Year" honors in eight consecutive varsity sports, including coaching seasons at Elloree High School (football-1986; track-1987), Cardinal Newman High School (varsity girls' basketball-1988), and Denmark-Olar High School (varsity girls' basketball-1989-90; track-1990; varsity girls' basketball-1990-91; track-1991; and varsity girls' basketball-1991-92;) and

Whereas, Coach Bayne clearly is a superb head coach who possesses the ability to motivate his athletes and make not only winners but champions out of them; and

Whereas, his talent, hard work, and outstanding record of success make him highly deserving of recognition and commendation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes and commends Coach Michael Bayne of Denmark-Olar High School for his outstanding accomplishments as a head coach in many sports.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Michael Bayne and the principal of Denmark-Olar High School.
