EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE MOSES POLITE, JR., OF ALLENDALE IN ALLENDALE COUNTY.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were saddened to note the passing on April 3, 1992, of Moses Richard Polite, Jr., of Allendale in Allendale County; and
Whereas, Mr. Polite, an Allendale County native, the son of the late Moses and Annie May Berry Polite, was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and was a councilman for the Town of Allendale, serving as chairman of the Street and Sanitation Committee; and
Whereas, Mr. Polite, at the time of his death, was a candidate for re-election to the Town Council in an effort to be of additional service to his community and State; and
Whereas, in addition to his distinguished career in public service, Mr. Polite was a member, vice-chairman of the board of deacons, and Sunday school teacher of the Virgin Mary Baptist Church, a member of the NAACP, Allendale Masonic Lodge 53, and VFW Post 7607; and
Whereas, the devotion of Mr. Polite to the improvement of the lives of the people of Allendale will be sorely missed as he set an outstanding example of the high calling of public service; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so that they might note the passing of so distinguished a South Carolinian. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly express sympathy to the family and many friends of the late Moses Polite, Jr., of Allendale in Allendale County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his wife, Mrs. Emma Lee Polite.
