A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MR. THOMAS WEEKS SANDEL, JR. OF COLUMBIA FOR HIS YEARS OF ACTIVE AND COMMITTED CIVIC AND COMMUNITY SERVICE.

Whereas, Mr. Thomas Weeks Sandel, Jr. of Columbia has distinguished himself through his many years of active and committed civic and community service; and

Whereas, Mr. Thomas Sandel, Jr. currently serves as the President of the Shandon Neighborhood Council of which he has been a member since 1989; and

Whereas, he served as the Chairman of the Shandon Turkey Trot in 1989 and 1991 and coordinated the Rosewood Halloween Carnival from 1988 through 1991; and

Whereas, Mr. Thomas Sandel, Jr. has shown his commitment to his community by serving as a member of the Meals on Wheels Committee for the South Carolina Commission on Aging; and

Whereas, Mr. Thomas Sandel, Jr. holds an undergraduate degree in business from the University of South Carolina and has worked for PYA/Monarch Food Service for thirteen years; and

Whereas, he is an active and respected member of the Shandon Presbyterian Church where for many years he has helped coordinate the early breakfast program for Shandon Presbyterian Men; and

Whereas, Mr. Thomas Sandel, Jr. is an active member and supporter of "Shandon Sunday Baseball" and is renowned for his athletic prowess. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends Thomas Weeks Sandel, Jr. for his years of notable civic and community service in Richland County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Thomas Sandel, Jr.
