TO COMMEND DR. HAROLD W. MOODY OF SPARTANBURG FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AS A MEMBER AND AS CHAIRMAN OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA COMMISSION ON ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE COMMISSION.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly have learned with regret that Dr. Harold W. Moody of Spartanburg will be retiring this year as a member of the South Carolina Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse; and
Whereas, Dr. Moody has served as a member of the Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse since 1966; and
Whereas, he has served as Chairman of the Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse from 1975 until the present having been appointed and reappointed by five Governors; and
Whereas, he is a respected family practitioner in Spartanburg having come to Spartanburg in 1952 for his internship at Spartanburg General Hospital, did a general practice residency at Spartanburg General after his internship and began his private practice in 1954 after the conclusion of his residency; and
Whereas, Dr. Moody has served his community of Spartanburg and the State of South Carolina in many positions of leadership, particularly in the field of health and human services; and
Whereas, during his tenure as Chairman of the Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, he has provided unmatched leadership and has made significant contributions toward making South Carolina's statewide system of community-based alcohol and other drug abuse services a national leader; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank this fine physician and outstanding South Carolinian for his service as a member and as chairman of the Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse and for his efforts to substantially enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Spartanburg County and the State of South Carolina upon the occasion of his retirement from the Commission. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Dr. Harold W. Moody of Spartanburg for his distinguished service as a member and as Chairman of the South Carolina Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse upon his retirement from the commission.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Moody.
