TO CONGRATULATE THE NINETY SIX HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TRACK TEAM FOR WINNING THE 1992 STATE CLASS AA TEAM TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that the Ninety Six High School Girls Track Team won the 1992 Class AA Team State Track and Field championship held in Columbia at the University of South Carolina track facilities; and
Whereas, this outstanding accomplishment marks the first championship for the Ninety Six girls since 1987 and continues a tradition of track and field excellence at Ninety Six; and
Whereas, in their run toward the 1992 championship, the field events played a key role in giving the Ninety Six girls an early lead and they increased their point total with a fine showing in the running events. At the conclusion of the championship, the Ninety Six girls had amassed sixty-six points, fifteen ahead of second place Wade Hampton; and
Whereas, under the able leadership of Coach DeVon Smith, the Ninety Six girls will continue to be a major force in track and field in this State for many years to come; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate Coach Smith, the staff, and each member of the team upon the occasion of their winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the Ninety Six High School Girls Track Team for winning the 1992 State Class AA Team Track and Field championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach DeVon Smith and the principal of Ninety Six High School.
