TO CONGRATULATE THE LANDER COLLEGE MEN'S TENNIS TEAM FOR WINNING THE 1992 NAIA CHAMPIONSHIP WHICH IS LANDER'S FOURTH NATIONAL MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP IN EIGHT YEARS.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that the Lander College Men's Tennis Team won the 1992 NAIA championship last week which was their fourth national men's tennis championship in eight years; and
Whereas, this outstanding accomplishment marked Lander's twelfth consecutive appearance in the NAIA national finals which will be the Senators' last appearance as Lander will become a full-time member of NCAA Division II next year; and
Whereas, although difficult at times, this was a particularly pleasing season for Coach Joe Cabri and the members of his team. Lander won team and singles championships, was ranked No. 1 throughout the season and ended the season with four players ranked in the top fifty in the final rankings; and
Whereas, Joe Cabri is one of the most outstanding tennis coaches in the country, as evidenced in part by the many awards he has received. He has established a national tennis power at Lander, and his program is one of the most highly respected tennis programs at any level among American colleges and universities; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this fine group of young athletes and their coaches upon their winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the Lander College Men's Tennis Team for winning the 1992 NAIA Championship which is Lander's fourth National Men's Championship in eight years.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Joe Cabri and Lander College Athletic Director, Finis Horne.
