A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 12-37-55 SO AS TO PROHIBIT COUNTIES FROM IMPOSING PENALTIES FOR DELINQUENCY IN PAYMENT OF PROPERTY TAXES DURING THE TIME A PARTICULAR PARCEL OF REAL PROPERTY IS BEING REAPPRAISED FOLLOWING THE REASSESSMENT EVALUATION PROCESS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 12-37-55. No county may impose a penalty for delinquency in payment of property taxes during the time a particular parcel of real property is being reappraised following the reassessment evaluation process."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
