A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 30-4-70, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO CLOSED MEETINGS OF A PUBLIC BODY UNDER THE SOUTH CAROLINA FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT AND EXECUTIVE SESSIONS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT EXECUTIVE SESSIONS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY MAY OCCUR UPON A FAVORABLE VOTE OF TWO-THIRDS OF THOSE MEMBERS OF THE PARTICULAR HOUSE PRESENT AND VOTING.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 30-4-70(d) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 118 of 1987, is further amended to read:

"(d) Sessions of the General Assembly may, upon a favorable vote of two-thirds of those members of the particular house present and voting, enter into executive sessions authorized by the Constitution of this State and rules adopted pursuant thereto to the Constitution."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
