TO CONGRATULATE THE SILVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 1990 STATE CLASS AA FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were very pleased to learn that the Silver Bluff High School football team defeated a fine Central High School team 21-0 to win the 1990 State Class AA Football Championship; and
Whereas, this tremendous victory concluded an outstanding season where the Bulldogs finished with a 13-1 record including six shutouts and marks the ninth consecutive year that they have participated in the state playoffs; and
Whereas, the accomplishments of the team this year under the leadership of Head Coach Butch Jacobs have brought deserved credit not only upon the members of the team and the coaching staff but upon their school, county, and State, as well; and
Whereas, this championship was a wonderful sendoff for Coach Jacobs who left the following day for Saudi Arabia as a member of this country's Armed Forces; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this talented group of young men and their coaching staff upon winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the Silver Bluff High School football team for winning the 1990 State Class AA Football Championship.
Be it further resolved that the members of the Silver Bluff football team and their coaches shall be recognized on an appropriate day in the hall of the House of Representatives at the discretion of the Speaker for their accomplishments and shall be given the privilege of the floor on this occasion.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Jacobs and to the principal of Silver Bluff High School.
