A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE FEDERAL-MOGUL CORPORATION'S SUMMERTON PLANT FOR BEING AWARDED GENERAL MOTORS' "MARK OF EXCELLENCE" AWARD.

Whereas, the Federal-Mogul Corporation's South Carolina plant is located in Summerton and employs two hundred sixty outstanding South Carolina citizens; and

Whereas, the Summerton plant is in a ninety-five thousand square foot facility in which oil seals used in automotive, heavy-duty truck, agricultural, off-road, and industrial applications are produced to supply General Motors; and

Whereas, Mr. William F. Burdick is the plant manager of this fine operation; and

Whereas, on February 1, 1991, the Summerton plant is being presented with General Motors' "Mark of Excellence" award in recognition of the plant's outstanding quality and management systems; and

Whereas, this prestigious award is part of the General Motors' "Targets for Excellence" supplier development process which is respected widely both within and outside the supplier community; and

Whereas, since its inception in 1987, only eight percent of all General Motors' suppliers of productive materials have received the "Mark of Excellence" award; and

Whereas, receipt of this award is a high honor conferred upon the Federal-Mogul Corporation, Mr. Burdick, plant manager, and its dedicated Summerton plant employees, especially, Kelis Thacker, Personnel and Project Manager, Jim Smith, Production Coordinator, Hattie Blackwell, Scheduler, Bertha Richburg, Assembly Operator, Geneva Stukes, Mold Operator, Lawrence Hilton, Punch Press Operator, and Saymon James, Tool Crib Attendant. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Federal-Mogul Corporation's Summerton plant and its plant manager and employees for their excellent performance and outstanding manufacturing operation by being awarded the General Motors' "Mark of Excellence" award.
