A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO AMEND THE RULES OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BY ADDING RULE 3.13 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WHO HAS BEEN DEFEATED IN A PARTY PRIMARY OR RUNOFF, OR WHO HAS FAILED TO FILE FOR REELECTION, TO ATTEND CONFERENCES FOR LEGISLATORS AT STATE EXPENSE.

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina:

That the Rules of the House of Representatives are amended by adding:

"3.13. Following sine die adjournment of the General Assembly in any general election year and before the convening of the next ensuing regular legislative session, no member of the House who, during that year, has failed to file for reelection to his legislative office or who has been defeated in his party's primary or runoff election may attend any conference for legislators at the expense of the State, either by direct payment of conference and related expenses on behalf of the member or by reimbursement of those expenses."
