AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 48-23-290, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO INCOME FROM THE SANDHILLS STATE FOREST AND CAROLINA SANDHILLS NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, SO AS TO DELETE THE REFERENCE TO CAROLINA SANDHILLS NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE AND FEDERAL AND COUNTY REFERENCES AND PROVIDE FOR BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD APPROVAL, FOR USE OF THE INCOME, AND FOR THE INCOME TO BE CARRIED FORWARD.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Carolina Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge reference deleted; income use revised
SECTION 1. Section 48-23-290 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"Section 48-23-290. The State Commission of Forestry may use the income from the Sand Hills State Forest, with the approval of the State Budget and Control Board, for the operation, development, and obligations of the forest and other purposes. Income not expended in one year must be retained by the commission and carried forward each year for use pursuant to this section. The commission shall promulgate regulations necessary to carry out this section."
Time effective
SECTION 2. Upon approval by the Governor, this act takes effect upon the transfer of title of the Sand Hills State Forest from the United States Department of Interior to the State Commission of Forestry.
