TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF NURSING, RELATING TO DEFINITION OF TERMS APPLYING TO PRIVATE NURSING PRACTICE FOR REGISTERED NURSES, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 1265, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Nursing, relating to Definition of Terms Applying to Private Nursing Practice for Registered Nurses, designated as Regulation Document Number 1265, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
As a result of legislation passed in 1987, requiring nurses practicing in the extended role to be officially recognized and approved by the Board of Nursing, and additional legislation passed in 1989, providing an overall definition of nursing
practice, the State Board of Nursing is proposing to amend Chapter 91, Regulation 91.4 by deleting c., definition of "Private Independent Nurse (Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist)", because it duplicates existing regulations.
