A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-5-4435 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A MOTOR VEHICLE MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH OR CONTAIN A LITTER RECEPTACLE AND TO PROVIDE PENALTIES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 56-5-4435. A motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, motor-driven cycle, a moped, or those vehicles exempt from this article pursuant to Section 56-5-4420, must be equipped with or contain a litter receptacle. A person violating this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than twenty-five dollars."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
