TO CREATE A COMMITTEE TO STUDY AND RECOMMEND TO THE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD A PROCESS TO TRAIN STATE PERSONNEL TO INSTALL, SERVICE, AND REPAIR ANY TYPE OR BRAND OF AUTOMATIC FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM USED BY THE STATE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. (A) A study committee is created for six months to study and recommend to the State Budget and Control Board a process to train state personnel to install, service, and repair any type or brand of automatic fire extinguishing system used by the State. The committee is composed of:
(1) the chairmen of the Senate and House of Representatives Labor, Commerce and Industry Committees;
(2) the State Fire Marshal;
(3) the director of Building Codes and Regulatory Services, Division of General Services of the Budget and Control Board;
(4) three members of the public appointed by the Governor.
(B) The committee shall review the current procedure used to install, service, and repair automatic extinguishing systems used by the State and establish a process to be used to train state personnel to install, service, and repair the systems.
(C) The committee shall select one of its members as chairman and other officers as necessary. The committee shall meet as often as necessary for the discharge of its business before making its report to the Budget and Control Board at the end of the six months.
(D) After making its report the committee is dissolved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
