A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 44-53-1530, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PENALTIES FOR POSSESSING ANABOLIC STEROIDS WITHOUT A PRESCRIPTION, SO AS TO MAKE A TECHNICAL CORRECTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 44-53-1530(4) of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 115 of 1989, is amended to read:

"(4) possession of more than one hundred or more dosage-units of anabolic steroids without a valid prescription is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be punished as follows:

(a) for a first offense, imprisoned for a term not to exceed five years or fined in an amount not to exceed five thousand dollars, or both;

(b) for a second or subsequent offense, imprisoned for a term not to exceed ten years or fined in an amount not to exceed ten thousand dollars, or both."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
