A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE TOWN OF LEESVILLE, LEXINGTON COUNTY, ON THE CONSTRUCTION AND DEDICATION OF ITS NEW FIRE STATION.

Whereas, on April 13, 1991, the Town of Leesville, Lexington County, dedicated an outstanding new facility which will serve as the town's fire station; and

Whereas, the station contains five thousand square feet, can house four fire trucks, and includes an office, a bunk room, a conference room, a kitchen, and restroom facilities; and

Whereas, this modern fire station replaced an old fire hall which was wholly inadequate; and

Whereas, the new station was constructed with donations of twenty thousand dollars from the town's volunteer firefighters, which was in addition to the countless hours of actual labor the volunteer firefighters rendered in the construction of the facility; and

Whereas, the citizens of Leesville are very proud of the town's new fire station and rightly so, because it is modern and efficient in every way and reflects the entire community's sense of pride and commitment to excellence; and

Whereas, Leesville is "second to none" in South Carolina because of its outstanding fire department, Fire Chief Tommy Shealy, the approximately twenty-five volunteer firefighters, Mayor Randy McGill, town hall staff, town council, and wonderful citizens; and

Whereas, the General Assembly wishes to take this opportunity to recognize the Town of Leesville and extend congratulations. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Town of Leesville, Lexington County, on the construction and dedication of its new fire station.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mayor Randy McGill and Chief Tommy Shealy.
