A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE WANDO HIGH SCHOOL "WARRIORS" SOCCER TEAM AND ITS COACH, TOM REILLY, OF CHARLESTON COUNTY ON WINNING THE CLASS AAAA STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were delighted to learn that the Wando High School "Warriors" soccer team captured the Class AAAA state soccer championship on Saturday, May 18, 1991; and

Whereas, in the hard-fought battle this tough Wando team outlasted the Irmo High School "Yellow Jackets" by a final score of 2-1; and

Whereas, Wando's victory ended Irmo's forty-one-match unbeaten streak and the Yellow Jackets' chance to tie the national record for most consecutive state championships; and

Whereas, the Warriors, finishing with a record of 22-1-1, had been to the state finals four times in the past six seasons but had not won a state title; and

Whereas, this championship match was a culmination of a great season with a group of players who came together and decided they were a team that wanted to win a state championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the Wando High School "Warriors" soccer team and its coach, Tom Reilly, of Charleston County on winning the Class AAAA state soccer championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Tom Reilly.
