A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

COMMENDING OUR FORMER COLLEAGUE IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, THE HONORABLE T. MOFFATT BURRISS OF RICHLAND COUNTY, FOR HIS FOURTEEN YEARS OF DEDICATED AND OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA WHILE A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND EXTENDING HIM BEST WISHES FOR HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, for fourteen years as a member of the House of Representatives, the Honorable T. Moffatt Burriss of Richland County worked with diligence for the betterment of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Moffatt was a distinguished colleague who was approachable, warm, and genuinely interested in providing good government for the people of this great State; and

Whereas, he was immensely popular with his constituents and, toward us, his fellow members in the General Assembly, he was a true friend -- someone we could depend on at any time; and

Whereas, he resigned from the House in 1991 to pursue certain business opportunities which would require a far greater amount of his time; and

Whereas, we will miss Moffatt's insight, his good sense of humor, his ready and friendly smile, and, most of all, his presence among us on a day-to-day basis during sessions. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That we, the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend our distinguished former colleague, the Honorable T. Moffatt Burriss of Richland County, for his fourteen years of dedicated and outstanding service to the people of South Carolina while a member of the House of Representatives and extend to him our best wishes for happiness and success in all of his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable T. Moffatt Burriss.
