A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING BETTY ROPER OF CLARENDON COUNTY ON HER INDUCTION INTO THE STATE BROADCASTERS HALL OF FAME.

Whereas, Ms. Betty Roper currently chairs the Clarendon County Council and was the first woman chosen for this post; and

Whereas, she was also the first woman to head the South Carolina Broadcasters Association; and

Whereas, because of her intelligence, diligence, leadership abilities, and charisma, she has broken the gender barrier in several areas, becoming the first woman to assume certain other leadership positions and to be accorded certain honors; and

Whereas, this very outstanding individual now is being inducted into the State Broadcasters Hall of Fame for South Carolina -- a distinct honor which is highly deserving of recognition and congratulations. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Betty Roper of Clarendon County on her induction into the State Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Roper.
