TO RECOGNIZE THE HONORABLE JOHN F. "JACK" WILBANKS OF SUMMERVILLE FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY.
Whereas, Mr. John F. "Jack" Wilbanks has a long distinctive career in public service which began in 1972 as city manager for Folly Beach; and
Whereas, Mr. Wilbanks became county administrator for Dorchester County in 1976 and served until 1979; and
Whereas, he continued his public service in 1979 when he became administrator for the Town of Summerville; and
Whereas, Mr. Wilbanks has engaged in a number of community service projects including appointment by the Governor to serve on the Folly Island Township Commission where he later became chairman; and
Whereas, Mr. Wilbanks served as president of the Optimist Club of James Island, the Summerville Kiwanis Club, is president of the Summerville Toastmasters, and treasurer of St. Luke's Lutheran Church; and
Whereas, he also has served the community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Municipal Association of South Carolina, the Summerville Chamber of Commerce, and the South Carolina City County Management Association, among others; and
Whereas, Mr. Wilbanks has been recognized as a member of "Who's Who is Government"; and
Whereas, Mr. Wilbanks has served his community through his tireless efforts as town administrator and in other professional and civic endeavors to bring about positive changes and advancement for the Town of Summerville. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly recognize the Honorable John F. "Jack" Wilbanks of Summerville for his outstanding service to the community.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Wilbanks.
